IT Systems Administrator

Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST (or overlapping U.S. business hours)
Total Weekly Hours: 40 hours

Our client is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented IT Systems Administrator to manage and maintain the health, security, and performance of their client and internal IT environments.

This is not a helpdesk role—it is a platform ownership and systems reliability position. You will be responsible for keeping systems stable, secure, standardized, and well-documented across multiple client environments.

You’ll work closely with the Support, Partner Success, and Projects teams to ensure technology is predictable, supportable, and continuously improving.

 

Responsibilities

Systems & Platform Ownership

Administer and maintain:

  • Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), and Intune

  • Windows and macOS endpoint environments

  • Windows Server, Active Directory, and cloud services

  • Networking infrastructure, including UniFi firewalls, switches, access points, VPNs, and VLANs

  • Maintain and enforce standard configurations and baselines across all client environments

  • Perform proactive system health checks, patching, and lifecycle planning

 

Security & Compliance

  • Manage identity and access controls (MFA, Conditional Access, device compliance)

  • Monitor and respond to security alerts from email security, endpoint protection, and MDR tools

  • Ensure backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans are properly configured and tested

  • Support security and compliance standards, including HIPAA and cybersecurity best practices

 

Escalation & Problem Resolution

  • Serve as Tier 2 / Tier 3 escalation for complex technical issues from Support

  • Troubleshoot cross-system and recurring issues, implementing permanent fixes

  • Reduce repeated incidents through improved architecture, automation, and standardization

 

Projects & Change Management

Support and execute:

  • New client onboardings

  • Microsoft 365 and cloud migrations

  • Network upgrades and redesigns

  • Security improvement and standardization initiatives

  • Plan, document, and safely execute technical changes

 

Documentation & Process

  • Maintain technical documentation in Hudu and HaloPSA

  • Keep system inventories, network diagrams, and configuration records current

  • Improve SOPs, checklists, and technical playbooks

 

Tooling & Automation

Use and improve:

  • HaloPSA for ticketing, workflows, and change tracking

  • Hudu for documentation

  • NinjaOne for device management, patching, and automation

  • Pax8 for licensing, provisioning, and vendor management

  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and improve system reliability

 

Collaboration

  • Work asynchronously with a distributed team

  • Communicate clearly in writing and meetings

  • Provide technical input to Partner Success and leadership when planning improvements

 

Required Skills

Technical

  • Strong experience with:

    • Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Intune

    • Windows Server and Active Directory

    • Networking fundamentals (firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, DNS, DHCP)

    • Backup and disaster recovery systems

  • Experience in MSP or multi-client environments is strongly preferred

 

Professional

  • Comfortable working EST hours

  • Self-directed, accountable, and highly organized

  • Excellent written documentation and communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple environments without losing attention to detail

 

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with:

    • UniFi networking

    • NinjaOne RMM

    • HaloPSA and Hudu

    • Security tooling (email security, MDR, password managers)

  • PowerShell or automation experience

  • Microsoft or networking certifications
