Senior Accountant

  • 20 hours per week.
  • Flexible scheduling within the client’s business hours (9:00 AM–5:00 PM EST)

Overview:
Our client is seeking a skilled, detail-oriented Accountant to support their Case Development Team in calculating and documenting downtime losses for trucking businesses. This role is critical to helping owner-operators and fleets recover the income they lost due to accidents caused by others.

This is not a traditional accounting role. You will be applying accounting and financial analysis skills in a claims and legal-support environment, working closely with a collaborative team that values accuracy, organization, and confidence in the work product.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Review and analyze trucking business financial records, including:
    • Settlement sheets
    • Rate confirmations
    • Profit & loss statements
    • Income and expense records
  • Distinguish and calculate fixed vs. variable expenses
  • Calculate downtime losses resulting from vehicle out-of-service periods
  • Assist in diminished value calculations for commercial trucks
  • Create clear, organized financial summaries, reports, and recaps
  • Contribute to demand packages submitted to insurance carriers
  • Ensure calculations are accurate, well-supported, and easy for non-accountants to understand
  • Collaborate with case managers and attorneys to strengthen claims

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong accounting or financial analysis background
  • Senior-level experience preferred
  • High attention to detail and comfort working with numbers and documentation
  • Ability to organize complex financial information into clear, defensible reports
  • Confident in your calculations and able to stand behind your work
  • Advanced Excel skills required; experience with Word, Outlook, Adobe, and CaseMaster Pro is a plus
  • Self-motivated and reliable in a remote work environment
  • Team player who communicates clearly and meets deadlines

Bonus Points (Not Required, But Helpful):

  • Experience with trucking, transportation, or logistics accounting
  • Familiarity with income loss calculations or insurance claims
  • Experience preparing reports used in negotiations or disputes
  • Advanced Excel skills

Independent Contractor Perks:

  • Permanent work-from-home
  • Immediate hiring
