Overview:
Our client is seeking a skilled, detail-oriented Accountant to support their Case Development Team in calculating and documenting downtime losses for trucking businesses. This role is critical to helping owner-operators and fleets recover the income they lost due to accidents caused by others.
This is not a traditional accounting role. You will be applying accounting and financial analysis skills in a claims and legal-support environment, working closely with a collaborative team that values accuracy, organization, and confidence in the work product.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Review and analyze trucking business financial records, including:
- Settlement sheets
- Rate confirmations
- Profit & loss statements
- Income and expense records
- Distinguish and calculate fixed vs. variable expenses
- Calculate downtime losses resulting from vehicle out-of-service periods
- Assist in diminished value calculations for commercial trucks
- Create clear, organized financial summaries, reports, and recaps
- Contribute to demand packages submitted to insurance carriers
- Ensure calculations are accurate, well-supported, and easy for non-accountants to understand
- Collaborate with case managers and attorneys to strengthen claims
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong accounting or financial analysis background
- Senior-level experience preferred
- High attention to detail and comfort working with numbers and documentation
- Ability to organize complex financial information into clear, defensible reports
- Confident in your calculations and able to stand behind your work
- Advanced Excel skills required; experience with Word, Outlook, Adobe, and CaseMaster Pro is a plus
- Self-motivated and reliable in a remote work environment
- Team player who communicates clearly and meets deadlines
Bonus Points (Not Required, But Helpful):
- Experience with trucking, transportation, or logistics accounting
- Familiarity with income loss calculations or insurance claims
- Experience preparing reports used in negotiations or disputes
- Advanced Excel skills
