We are seeking a Senior Tax & Compliance Accountant based in the Philippines to join our Melbourne-led team. This is a senior, hands-on role with leadership responsibility, focused on Australian tax compliance, quality control, and team development.

You will oversee complex compliance work, mentor junior accountants, and collaborate closely with client managers and bookkeeping teams to deliver accurate, timely, and confident outcomes for Australian clients.


Key Responsibilities

Australian Tax & Compliance

  • Prepare financial statements for companies, trusts, partnerships, and sole traders

  • Prepare income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, and complex individuals

  • Handle complex tax matters including CGT, ESS, managed funds, rental properties, and cryptocurrency

  • Reconcile balance sheet and profit & loss accounts, identifying and correcting discrepancies

  • Reconcile ATO balance sheet items (GST, PAYGW, income tax)

  • Maintain fixed asset registers including acquisitions and disposals

  • Identify and manage taxation issues such as Division 7A and FBT

  • Prepare and lodge BAS/IAS, correcting GST and payroll discrepancies

  • Prepare fuel tax credit calculations

  • Prepare and lodge state payroll tax (monthly and annual reconciliations across jurisdictions)

  • Prepare year-end tax planning files

  • Prepare FBT calculations and FBT returns


Leadership & Collaboration

  • Review and oversee work prepared by accountants to ensure accuracy and deadlines are met

  • Mentor and train accountants, in collaboration with the Compliance Team Manager and Client Managers

  • Work closely with client services and client managers to address client queries

  • Collaborate with bookkeeping teams to improve file quality and streamline compliance processes

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of systems, workflows, and standards


What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Australian tax and compliance within an accounting firm

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Commerce, or Business (Accounting major)

  • Strong knowledge of Australian tax law, including FBT, Division 7A, and trust structures

  • Xero Certified; confident using Xero, Xero Tax, and XPM

  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong reconciliation skills

  • Analytical, structured problem-solver

  • High level of written and spoken English

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines

  • Confidence reviewing work and supervising junior accountants

  • Strong business acumen and ability to work effectively with Australian stakeholders


Highly Regarded (Bonus)

  • Experience working in a BPO or outsourced accounting environment

  • SMSF experience

  • Familiarity with Karbon, Koinly, or similar tools
