Job Overview We’re looking for a Part-Time Bookkeeper to support the financial operations of a nonprofit organization. This is a remote, independent contractor role with a flexible schedule, ideal for someone detail-oriented and experienced in managing nonprofit or small business finances.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 4 hours a day flexible within 9am to 5pm Pacific (20 hours per week)
- Client Time Zone: PST (California Time)
Key Responsibilities:
- Record and categorize financial transactions accurately in the accounting system
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including donations, grants, adoption fees, and vendor payments
- Reconcile bank, PayPal, and credit card accounts on a regular basis
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records for audits, grants, and compliance reporting
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial summaries for management review
- Process staff reimbursements, vendor invoices, and recurring payments
- Assist with budget tracking and forecasting for programs and operations
- Collaborate with the leadership team to support financial transparency and accountability
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit financial and record-keeping standards
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, preferably in a nonprofit or small business environment
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online (or similar accounting software)
- MUST BE WILLING TO SUBMIT END-OF-DAY REPORTS
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines remotely
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, collaborative attitude
- Monday to Friday, 4 hours a day flexible within 9am to 5pm Pacific
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with donation tracking systems or fund accounting
- Familiarity with grant reporting and nonprofit financial statements
