Social Media Specialist & Marketing Assistant

Job Highlights

Contract: Independent Contractor
Schedule: 20hrs per week (4 hrs daily), flexible scheduling with potential to grow into a full-time role
Client Timezone: Australian Eastern Time (AEST/AEDT)

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and schedule social media content across platforms, including countdown campaigns and promotional posts

  • Design eye-catching, professional graphics using Canva (non-generative AI)

  • Manage and update WordPress website content, graphics, and promotions

  • Support SEO optimisation initiatives

  • Schedule and format newsletters via MailerLite, including campaign and promotional sections

  • Manage BookFunnel for reader distributions and author collaboration swaps

  • Coordinate and plan marketing campaigns up to 6 months in advance

  • Create launch countdown sequences (5 posts daily, 5 days pre-launch)

  • Handle administrative and coordination tasks related to book launches

  • Maintain calendar management and scheduling support

  • Manage author swap arrangements and promotional partnerships


Requirements

  • Proven experience in social media management and content scheduling (APPLICATIONS WITH PORTFOLIOS WILL BE PRIORITIZED)

  • Strong proficiency in Canva for professional graphic design

  • Solid WordPress experience

  • Good working knowledge of Meta (Facebook & Instagram)

  • SEO optimisation experience

  • Comfortable using AI assistant tools (but not generative AI for copy or graphics)

  • Strong organisational and time-management skills

  • Self-driven, independent, and proactive work style

  • Experience with MailerLite preferred

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions while taking initiative

  • Understanding of digital marketing funnels and promotional strategies
