We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper & Accounting Specialist to take full ownership of the financial operations for a growing government services enterprise. This role supports multiple business entities and ensures accurate bookkeeping, payroll compliance, and financial reporting under Australian regulations. You’ll work remotely with full flexibility while directly supporting leadership in a fast-growing, purpose-driven organization.

Responsibilities
- Manage chart of accounts and maintain accurate bookkeeping records across multiple business entities
- Handle payroll processing in compliance with Australian taxation laws and regulations
- Perform full-cycle bookkeeping including monthly close procedures and reconciliations
- Process invoicing and payments using Xero and HubDocs
- Prepare financial reports and analysis to support business decision-making
- Ensure compliance with Australian financial regulations and government reporting requirements
- Support audit preparation and financial governance activities
- Manage financial records for the primary business and additional ventures
Requirements
- 3–5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience with Australian businesses
- Advanced proficiency in Xero and integrated accounting systems
- Strong knowledge of Australian tax law, payroll compliance, and government reporting
- Experience with full-cycle bookkeeping and monthly close processes
- Advanced Excel skills for financial reporting and analysis
- Ability to manage multiple entities and datasets simultaneously
- Bonus: Experience with HubDocs, government contracting, or security-related environments
- Nice-to-have: Experience working with ex-defense or emergency services professionals

Since this is a permanent work-from-home position and the arrangement is that of an Independent Contractor, selected candidates must have their own computer and reliable internet connection.
