Senior Web Developer (WordPress)

Role Overview
Senior Web Developer responsible for leading WordPress development across client and internal marketing websites. The role focuses on scalable builds, performance, security, and SEO readiness, while supporting high-volume content and campaign needs.

Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday, 8am - 5pm EST or 9am - 6pm EST (Indianapolis, IN time zone)

Core Responsibilities

  • Expert Development: Lead custom theme (Block/Classic) and plugin development using WordPress Core, PHP (OOP), and ACF.
  • Front-End Excellence: Translate Figma designs into pixel-perfect, responsive builds using modern CSS and JS.
  • Optimization: Own Core Web Vitals, technical SEO (Schema/Crawlability), and WCAG accessibility standards.
  • Security & Stability: Implement security best practices, vulnerability monitoring, and robust backup/rollback strategies.
  • DevOps: Manage Git-based workflows, local environments (Docker), and deployment across platforms like WP Engine or Kinsta.
  • Leadership: Drive architectural decisions, perform code reviews, and document technical standards for the team.

Requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years of professional WordPress development, preferably in an agency environment.
  • Backend: Advanced PHP, REST API, and dependency management (Composer).
  • Marketing Focus: Proven success supporting high-traffic sites, CRO layouts, and complex campaign builds.
  • Ownership: Ability to manage projects end-to-end, balancing rapid deployment with long-term maintainability.

Preferred Skills

  • Webflow, Headless WordPress, or Multilingual (WPML) experience.
  • Familiarity with GA4, GTM, and A/B testing tools.
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and multisite installations.

  • This is a permanent work-from-home role under an Independent Contractor arrangement. Candidates must have their own computer and reliable internet connection, and are responsible for their own taxes and benefits.
