Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to manage financial operations for multiple companies within a franchise portfolio. This is a part-time position requiring 20 hours per week with flexible scheduling arrangements. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Canadian tax procedures and experience with multi-entity bookkeeping.
Client Overview
The client operates a portfolio of four companies including franchise locations of a cookie store, a commercial real estate holding company, and an Airbnb rental business. The two franchise companies require regular bookkeeping work with bi-weekly payroll for approximately 10 employees each, while the holding company and Airbnb business primarily require year-end work.
Schedule:
- Flexible schedule (20 hours per week)
- Client Timezone: Eastern Standard Time (EST)

Responsibilities:
- Process bi-weekly payroll for approximately 10 employees per franchise company using payroll software.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations and credit card reconciliations across multiple entities.
- Prepare and file HST returns for franchise companies in compliance with Canadian tax requirements.
- Manage receipt capture and documentation using accounting software systems.
- Complete year-end bookkeeping work for holding company and rental property entities.
- Monitor and update cost of goods sold data for approximately 100 inventory items on a weekly basis.
Must-Have Requirements:
- Proven experience with Canadian tax procedures and HST filing requirements.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks for monthly bookkeeping and financial management.
- Strong knowledge of bank reconciliation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing.
Nice-to-Have Requirements:
- Experience with Wagepoint or similar payroll software platforms.
- Familiarity with Hubdoc, Dext, or Sage accounting software.
- Previous experience working with franchise businesses or multi-entity corporate structures.
- Background in food and beverage industry cost accounting and inventory management.
