Xero AU Bookkeeper

Job Overview

Our client is looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to assist with monthly bookkeeping tasks, including bank reconciliations, receipt and invoice management, and financial administration within Xero. In this role, you will work alongside an internal team and an Australian accountant to ensure accurate and organized financial records. This position offers a flexible part-time arrangement with the potential for expansion as the business grows.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, Flexible Hours (10–15 work hours per week)
    Note: Flexible working hours allowed, ideally aligned with Australian business hours for team collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Xero Management: Perform bank and credit card reconciliations; ensure all transactions are correctly coded and accurately recorded.
  • Document Processing: Upload and match receipts and invoices to transactions; maintain organized financial documentation in Google Drive.
  • AP/AR Tracking: Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable tracking to ensure timely financial flow.
  • Reporting & Summaries: Prepare simple monthly summaries or financial reports to provide clear insights into account status.
  • Compliance Support: Identify discrepancies or missing information and flag them to the team; support the preparation of data required for BAS and accountant review.
  • Collaboration: Maintain clear communication with the internal team and the Australian accountant to facilitate smooth financial operations.

Requirements

  • 2–3+ years of experience in bookkeeping.
  • High proficiency in using Xero accounting software.
  • Solid understanding of Australian GST principles and business financial requirements.
  • Strong ability to reconcile complex accounts and identify discrepancies.
  • Excellent written English and clear, professional communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and organizational proficiency.

Qualifications

  • Xero certification (Highly Regarded).
  • Experience supporting Australian-based businesses (Preferred).
  • Proficiency with Google Drive and cloud-based file management systems (Preferred).
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to ask questions when information is missing or incorrect.

This is a permanent work-from-home role under an Independent Contractor arrangement. Candidates must have their own computer and reliable internet connection, and are responsible for their own taxes and benefits.
