Job Overview

Our client is looking for a skilled WordPress Developer to deliver production-ready websites for a portfolio of consultancy clients. This role focuses on building high-performance, custom themes from the ground up, ensuring all builds meet modern benchmarks and mobile-first standards. You will collaborate closely with the design team to translate Figma mockups into functional, professional themes while supporting ongoing site maintenance and security.

Schedule

• Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Sydney (40 work hours per week)

Responsibilities

• Build custom WordPress themes from Figma designs without relying on page builders
• Register and manage custom post types and taxonomies directly in code
• Develop mobile-first, responsive builds with proper page structures and breakpoints
• Integrate third-party booking systems, CRMs, and iframe embeds
• Monitor and optimize site performance to ensure fast page load times
• Maintain WordPress core updates, security patches, and overall site uptime
• Manage plugin updates and ongoing site maintenance

Requirements

• Proven experience in custom WordPress theme development (not plugin-based page building)
• Strong understanding of PHP, HTML, CSS, and responsive design principles
• Experience working with GitHub for version control
• High level of attention to detail and commitment to clean, efficient code
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple client projects simultaneously
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to quality assurance
