Job Overview
As a Part-Time Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining the financial integrity of our general ledger with high technical precision. This role requires a "hands-on" QuickBooks expert who can handle complex month-end adjustments, including payroll accruals, prepaid expenses, and revenue recognition (Earnings in Excess). Beyond standard entry, you will play a key role in operational setup, specifically building out our Purchase Order (PO) workflows and automating recurring transactions. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys streamlining processes and ensuring that the month-end close is accurate, automated, and timely.
Schedule: Part-time, 20 hours per week can be 8 - 12, 9 - 1, 10 - 2 EST
Responsibilities
- Manage and record complex journal entries to ensure the general ledger accurately reflects the company's financial position.
- Execute month-end accruals, specifically focusing on payroll accruals, expenses not yet incurred, and prepaid expense schedules.
- Monitor and record revenue recognition entries, including "Earnings in Excess of Revenues."
- Lead the setup and management of the Purchase Order (PO) system, including creating open POs for the month and one-time issue POs for specific expenses.
- Optimize efficiency by setting up and managing memorized and automatic transactions for recurring expenses, bills, and journal entries.
- Perform regular reconciliations within QuickBooks to maintain data accuracy and integrity.
- Provide support during the month-end close process to ensure all ledger entries are captured before reporting.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or Accounting Assistant, with heavy "hands-on" experience in QuickBooks.
- Deep understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) regarding accruals and revenue recognition.
- Advanced knowledge of ledger entries, specifically: Payroll accruals, Prepaid expenses, and Revenue/Expense timing adjustments.
- Technical ability to set up and manage Purchase Order (PO) workflows within an accounting system.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping.
- Ability to work independently in a part-time capacity while meeting strict month-end deadlines.
