This role will play a critical part in both the migration phase and the ongoing maintenance of the online store, supporting a high-volume product catalog.

Job Description

As a Web Designer / Shopify Developer, you will lead the redesign and migration of an existing e-commerce website to Shopify. You will be responsible for aligning the new design with a target reference site, ensuring a seamless user experience, and managing ongoing product updates post-launch.

This role requires a combination of design, development, and data management skills, along with the ability to work independently and deliver high-quality results.

Responsibilities

Website Redesign & Migration

  • Revamp the existing website to align with a new design standard
  • Migrate the current e-commerce store to Shopify
  • Ensure a smooth transition with minimal disruption to operations

Shopify Development & Management

  • Build and optimize the Shopify store for performance and usability
  • Maintain and manage product catalogs post-launch
  • Implement best practices for e-commerce functionality and UX

Product & Data Management

  • Upload and manage product listings on an ongoing basis
  • Integrate supplier data files to update pricing and product codes
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency across all product information

Optimization & Automation

  • Utilize AI tools to support design and store optimization
  • Improve workflows for product updates and catalog management
  • Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency

Requirements

  • Proven experience with Shopify development and management
  • Strong background in web design and UI/UX for e-commerce
  • Experience handling large product catalogs (high-SKU environments)
  • Ability to process and integrate external data files
  • Familiarity with AI tools for design or automation
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines

Preferred

  • Experience with motorbike, automotive, or audio-related product catalogs

Scope & Engagement

  • Initial full-time engagement for website redesign and migration
  • Transition to part-time role (20 hours per week) for ongoing support
  • Flexible schedule aligned with New Zealand business hours
  • Remote work arrangement
