Overview
Join a global consumer products company as a Senior Staff Accountant and take full operational ownership of multi-entity NetSuite accounting and month-end closes. Working directly under the Interim CFO, you will play a hands-on execution role in producing reliable, accurate financial data across three legal entities. This is an exceptional opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to establish clean books and grow alongside a maturing international finance team.
Schedule
Remote, with working hours providing meaningful overlap with US Pacific and Australia Eastern time zones - 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific Time (8 paid hours per day with 1 hour unpaid break / 40 paid hours per week)
Responsibilities
Month-End Close and Reconciliation
- Own the monthly close process across all entities, with a target close completion within 10 business days of period end.
- Perform and review reconciliations for cash, AR, AP, inventory, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, and intercompany balances.
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, and adjustments required for accurate financial reporting.
- Maintain the close checklist and track open items through to resolution.
- Investigate and resolve variances between general ledger and subledger balances.
NetSuite Consolidation and Multi-Entity Accounting
- Manage consolidation across multiple entities in NetSuite, including intercompany eliminations and multi-currency translation.
- Maintain entity-level and consolidated financial reports including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow.
- Configure and run saved searches, reports, and dashboards in NetSuite to support the finance team.
- Coordinate with the US-based Accountant on US transactional flow and ensure clean handoff into close.
- Coordinate with the third-party accounting provider supporting the South Asia entity and ensure their inputs are accurate and on time.
Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare the monthly financial reporting package for the Interim CFO's review, including consolidated and entity-level views, variance commentary, and key operating metrics.
- Support weekly cash position reporting with accurate inputs from AR, AP, and bank reconciliations.
- Document recurring accounting processes, close procedures, and reporting workflows so that institutional knowledge is captured.
- Maintain organized working papers and supporting documentation for all reconciliations and significant journal entries.
Coordination and Communication
- Work directly with the Interim CFO on priorities, escalations, and improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate with the company's external CPA on tax filings, audit support, and any technical accounting questions.
- Coordinate with the Australia bookkeeping resource to ensure clean inputs from that entity.
- Communicate clearly and proactively about open items, blockers, and timing concerns.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- At least 5 years of hands-on accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a multi-entity environment.
- Strong NetSuite experience, including consolidation, intercompany eliminations, multi-currency, and saved searches or report customization. Single-entity NetSuite experience is not sufficient for this role.
- Solid understanding of accrual-basis accounting, GAAP, and standard reconciliation practices.
- Experience supporting US-based companies with international operations, ideally including Australia and Asia-Pacific entities.
- Proven track record of meeting close deadlines and producing accurate, reliable financial information.
- Excellent written English and comfort communicating with US and Australia-based team members.
- Strong attention to detail and natural inclination toward documentation and process discipline.
- Ability to work independently in a remote role with limited day-to-day supervision.
- Reliable home office setup, including stable high-speed internet, dual monitors, and the ability to work consistent overlapping hours.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA, CA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
- Experience with inventory-driven consumer products businesses, including cost accounting and inventory valuation.
- Familiarity with the Shopify, Amazon, or other ecommerce-related revenue and reconciliation workflows.
- Experience coordinating with third-party accounting providers in international jurisdictions.
- Working knowledge of Australia GST and India accounting requirements, even at a coordinator level.
- Prior experience supporting a CFO or Finance Director directly, particularly during periods of process improvement.
Success Criteria
Performance in this role will be evaluated against the following measurable outcomes:
- Monthly close consistently completed within 10 business days of period end.
- Reconciliations clean, current, and well-documented across all entities.
- Consolidated and entity-level reports delivered on schedule each month with minimal correction required.
- Intercompany balances accurate and elimination entries properly recorded.
- Documented processes and working papers that support continuity if anyone in the role changes.
- Proactive identification and escalation of issues rather than reactive discovery.
