Web Developer & SEO Specialist

Overview

Our client, a trusted commercial appliance repair and maintenance company in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area, is seeking a remote Web Developer with strong SEO experience to modernize their online presence. In this independent role, you will take ownership of updating a 10-year-old company website, improving its performance, and enhancing search engine visibility for major regional clients like hospitals and universities. This is a fantastic opportunity for a self-directed professional to directly impact a well-established company's digital growth.

Schedule: 7:30 AM to 11:30 PM Livermore, California, Pacific Standard Time (4 hours per week)

Responsibilities

  • Audit the existing website and identify outdated code, broken elements, and performance issues
  • Update and modernize the website design, structure, and content
  • Ensure the website is mobile-responsive and cross-browser compatible
  • Improve page load speed and overall site performance
  • Maintain and update the website on an ongoing basis as needed
  • Conduct a full technical and on-page SEO audit
  • Implement on-page SEO improvements including meta tags, headers, alt text, and internal linking
  • Improve local SEO presence for the Greater San Francisco Bay Area market
  • Set up or optimize Google Search Console and Google Analytics
  • Provide monthly SEO performance reports with recommendations

Requirements

Must-Haves

  • Minimum 3 years of web development experience
  • Proven experience working on and modernizing older websites
  • Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Hands-on SEO experience — both technical and on-page
  • Familiarity with Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and SEO tools such as SEMrush or Ahrefs
  • Experience with local SEO for service-based businesses
  • Self-directed and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Reliable internet connection and dedicated remote workspace

Nice to Have

  • Experience with WordPress or similar CMS platforms
  • Basic graphic design skills for updating visuals
  • Experience with page speed optimization tools
