Job Overview
Our client is seeking a sharp, organized, part-time Procurement Specialist with a strong background in interior design or high-end architectural materials. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and coordinating the delivery of specialized interior fixtures, custom metal elements, and architectural finishes. Instead of traditional industrial supply chain management, your focus will be on translating design intents into physical realities—negotiating with specialized design vendors, managing custom fabrication timelines, and ensuring every sourced item perfectly matches project specifications and luxury quality standards.
Schedule
-
Flexible scheduling during core California, US client business hours, Monday - Friday (20-25 hours per week)
Responsibilities
- Design Sourcing & Purchasing: Research, evaluate, and purchase architectural metal finishes, custom interior fixtures, and specialized decorative materials based on design specifications and project mood boards.
- FF&E & Vendor Management: Maintain and expand relationships with design showrooms, fabricators, and specialized artisans; confidently negotiate pricing, trade discounts, and strict custom production timelines.
- Project Coordination & Quality Control: Coordinate closely with the internal design and architectural teams to forecast material needs, ensuring custom fabrication orders match exact design dimensions, finishes, and aesthetic requirements.
- Order Tracking & Logistics: Issue purchase orders (POs), track custom fabrication lead times, manage delivery logistics to project sites or warehouses, and swiftly resolve any operational issues with damaged goods or specification discrepancies.
Requirements
- Industry Experience: 2–4 years of proven procurement or purchasing experience specifically within the interior design, architectural, or luxury FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment) industries. Note: Candidates with purely industrial supply chain backgrounds will not be considered.
- Design Sensibility: Proven ability to read architectural drawings, interpret technical design specifications, and recognize high-quality materials and finishes (specifically decorative and architectural metals).
- Commercial Skills: Exceptional negotiation capabilities (specifically securing design trade pricing), budget management habits, and relationship-building skills with boutique vendors and custom fabricators.
- Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with dedicated design procurement software (e.g., Ivy, Studio Designer, Houzz Pro) or architectural project management tools, alongside high proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Operational Attributes: Highly organized with an obsessive attention to detail, a strong aesthetic eye, and the mental agility to multitask effectively in a deadline-driven project environment.
