IT Systems and Automation Engineer

Overview

Work directly on high-impact operational and technical projects focused on front-end JavaScript development, automations, security, and systems optimization across a fast-moving biotech startup. This role is ideal for a proactive problem solver who excels at optimizing workflows and enjoys figuring out how to make technical systems run faster and better. You will collaborate closely with leadership to drive efficiency and scale company-wide operations.

Schedule

  • 9am-5pm EST
  • 8 paid hours per day / 40 hours per week

Responsibilities

  • Front-end integrations into pages on our JavaScript-based websites and applications
  • Work with other teams to improve operational efficiency by defining and building new automated workflows (product, sales, marketing, operations, finance, customer service, etc..)
  • Migrate, maintain and optimize existing automations and integrations Security, Backups & IT
  • Provide occasional technical support for software and hardware related issues
  • Improve backup solutions & restoration processes
  • Deploy endpoint management & remote monitoring solutions
  • Help define and enforce security policies across devices, networks, and platforms
  • Assist with implementing endpoint detection and response (EDR) and email filtering
  • Support rollout of SSO and secure password management tools
  • Implementing 2FA and improving access controls across systems
  • Contribute to internal security training & best practices Operational Efficiency & Cost Optimization
  • Audit software tools and subscriptions to eliminate unused spend
  • Track system usage and recommend cost-saving improvements
  • Support vendor/account management (e.g., Apple, Google, Lenovo business accounts) Onboarding/Offboarding & Employee Experience
  • Improve internal onboarding and offboarding workflows, including accounts, devices, and system access, as well as select external workflows (e.g., partners and patients).
  • Standardize device provisioning with pre-configured setups.
  • Support the development and upkeep of internal documentation and knowledge base system

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in JavaScript development
  • 1+ year of experience with automation, integrations, or workflow design
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and technical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tools and technologies
  • Organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
  • Bonus: Experience with endpoint or device management platforms such as NinjaOne
  • Bonus: Experience working with Cloudflare, Netlify, and Amazon Web Services
