Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Managaer to serve as a strategic advisor and oversee all aspects of financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, cash flow management, and performance reporting for a professional services firm. This role partners closely with executive leadership to drive profitability, operational efficiency, and long-term growth through data-driven financial analysis, KPI reporting, and strategic recommendations.
The ideal candidate brings extensive Accounting and Finance experience, strong expertise in QuickBooks Online and Excel, and a proven ability to optimize financial processes, strengthen controls, and lead high-performing accounting teams.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm | NY, USA Eastern Time | With an hour unpaid break
Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Serve as the firm's senior financial advisor and strategic finance leader
- Partner with firm leadership on financial planning, growth initiatives, and operational decision-making
- Develop and maintain short-term and long-term financial forecasts
- Prepare annual budgets and monitor performance against established targets
- Provide recommendations to improve profitability, cash flow, and operational efficiency
- Present financial results, trends, and key performance indicators to firm leadership
Accounting Oversight & Treasury Management
- Provide oversight and direction to the firm's internal accounting team
- Review financial statements, reconciliations, and month-end close processes
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of the firm's accounting records
- Maintain compliance with accounting policies and internal controls
- Assist in resolving complex accounting issues and operational challenges
- Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capital while reviewing disbursement controls
- Develop cash forecasting models, liquidity planning processes, and support banking initiatives
Budgeting, Forecasting & Reporting
- Build and maintain rolling forecasts and complex financial models
- Develop management reporting packages, executive dashboards, and establish KPI reporting
- Analyze firm performance, profitability, realization, utilization, and key operational metrics
- Provide actionable recommendations based on financial and operational data
Process Improvement & Systems Optimization
- Evaluate and improve existing accounting workflows to implement scalable processes
- Strengthen internal controls and documentation standards
- Identify automation opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce manual processes
- Improve integration and utilization of technology platforms, working within QBO, CCH Axcess, Chase Banking, and Excel
Practice Management & Firm Operations
- Analyze metrics including realization, utilization, WIP, accounts receivable, and profitability
- Assist leadership with pricing, staffing, capacity planning, and growth initiatives
- Develop financial models to support strategic decisions and investments
- Provide operational insight to support the firm's long-term growth objectives
Must-Have Requirements:
- 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience
- Prior experience as a CFO, Fractional CFO, Finance Director, or Controller
- Strong understanding of professional services firm economics
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel
- Experience building financial reporting models and KPI dashboards
- Deep expertise in budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with CPA firms, accounting firms, legal firms, or other professional service organizations
- Proven track record leading process improvement and operational transformation initiatives
- Familiarity with CCH Axcess Practice Management
- Experience optimizing financial and operational technology stacks

- Strategic mindset with a hands-on approach to leadership and operational workflows
- Strong advisory capabilities with the ability to convey complex metrics clearly to executive leadership
