Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day financial administration and reconciliation activities across multiple UK company entities.
This role focuses on Xero bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, transaction management, VAT preparation, and multi-company financial organization. The ideal candidate has experience supporting UK businesses, understands property-related accounting workflows, and can work independently while coordinating with a chartered accountant.
Company Overview:
A growing UK-based property and business group managing multiple company entities across property development, investment, and related business operations. The organization requires an experienced bookkeeping professional to maintain accurate financial records, support accounting processes, and ensure strong financial visibility across the group.
Schedule:
- Mondays to Fridays, flexible schedule during the client’s business hours (GMT/BST, 20 hours per week)
Scope:
- Take ownership of bookkeeping accuracy across multiple UK entities
- Maintain Xero accounts and ensure transactions remain current
- Support financial organization for property and business operations
- Provide reliable financial data for leadership and accountants
- Ensure VAT and compliance-related information is prepared correctly
- Become the dedicated bookkeeping resource following the transition from the previous provider
Key Responsibilities:
- Xero Bookkeeping & Reconciliations

- Manage bookkeeping activities across four separate company entities within Xero
- Perform regular bank reconciliations approximately two to three times per month
- Accurately categorize and process approximately 200–300 transactions monthly
- Ensure all income, expenses, and financial activities are correctly recorded
- Maintain clean, organized, and up-to-date accounting records
- Identify discrepancies and investigate transaction issues when required
- Multi-Entity Financial Management
- Manage transactions across multiple businesses and accounts
- Record and track inter-company transactions accurately
- Maintain director’s loan account records and related financial entries
- Ensure proper allocation of expenses between different company entities
- Support clear financial reporting across property and associated business operations
- Assist with ad hoc bookkeeping and finance-related administrative taskMaintain digital filing of receipts, invoices, and supporting documentationSupport improvements to financial processes and organization
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper supporting UK-based businesses
- Strong hands-on experience using Xero accounting software
- Experience managing bookkeeping across multiple company entities
- Understanding of UK bookkeeping practices and VAT processes
- Knowledge of inter-company transactions and director’s loan accounts
- Strong reconciliation skills and high attention to detail
- Ability to process high volumes of transactions accurately
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision
- Strong written communication skills for accountant and team collaboration
Highly-Regarded Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience in property development, real estate, construction, or investment businesses
- Experience working alongside UK chartered accountants
- Knowledge of property-related expenses and accounting structures
- Experience supporting small business owners or multi-business entrepreneurs
- Familiarity with cloud-based document management systems
- Experience improving bookkeeping workflows and processes
