Project Engineer

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Project Engineer to support our growing commercial and industrial construction projects. This role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, reviewing project documentation, coordinating project activities, and supporting project execution from pre-construction through completion.

The ideal candidate has experience interpreting construction plans, performing quantity take-offs, managing project timelines, and communicating effectively with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.

Schedule:

  • Mondays to Fridays, 6:30 am to 3:30 pm (US Pacific Time, 40 hours per week)

Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, specifications, and project documents.
  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and accurate cost estimates for construction projects.
  • Analyze project requirements and identify potential risks, opportunities, and cost-saving measures.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, and forecasting reports.
  • Coordinate project activities with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
  • Prepare bid packages, request for quotations (RFQs), and subcontractor evaluations.
  • Track project changes and prepare change orders as needed.
  • Maintain project documentation and ensure records are organized and up to date.
  • Assist with procurement and vendor management activities.
  • Provide regular project status updates and reports to management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in construction estimating, project coordination, or project management.
  • Experience supporting commercial and/or industrial construction projects preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Software Experience:

Experience with one or more construction-related software platforms is preferred, including but not limited to:

  • Bluebeam
  • Procore
  • Buildertrend
  • PlanSwift
  • AutoCAD
  • Microsoft Project
  • Excel and Microsoft Office Suite

Candidates do not need experience with all platforms, but should be comfortable learning new construction management and estimating software.
