AU Accounts Officer (MYOB)

Job Overview

Our client is looking for an experienced and highly organized Accounts Officer to join their team. This role is responsible for supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, reconciliations, reporting, and general accounting administration.

The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and prior experience working with accounting systems, particularly MYOB. Experience supporting Australian businesses is highly regarded.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM [NSW Time], with 1 hour unpaid break (37.5 work hours per week)

Responsibilities

Accounts Payable

  • Process supplier payments accurately and on time
  • Process employee reimbursement claims
  • Perform credit card reconciliations and payments
  • Manage and maintain the Accounts Payable inbox
  • Ensure accurate recording and filing of financial transactions

Accounts Receivable

  • Manage the Accounts Receivable function, including monitoring and following up on outstanding invoices, overdue accounts, and payments related to deposits, manufacturing, delivery, handover, and service work.
  • Generate service invoices and process customer refunds and account adjustments.
  • Maintain service agreements, customer accounts, and ownership records for completed projects and installations.
  • Review service contracts and customer records in MYOB and internal databases, and manage the Accounts Receivable inbox.

Payroll Support

  • Process Superannuation payments
  • Assist with PAYG obligations
  • Process Long Service Leave payments
  • Assist with Payroll Tax payments and related reporting

Financial Administration

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, process labor and hours journals, and support month-end accounting procedures and reporting.
  • Prepare operational and financial reports to support business performance and decision-making.
  • Assist with project, installation, variation, and storage invoicing.
  • Support travel coordination and company asset management activities.

Compliance & General Duties

  • Perform additional administrative and finance-related duties as required
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, workplace health and safety requirements, and relevant legislation
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of financial information

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in an Accounts Officer, Bookkeeper, or similar accounting role, preferably supporting Australian businesses or accounting functions.
  • Qualification in Accounting, Finance, Bookkeeping, or a related discipline.
  • Experience using MYOB and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end close processes, including journal entries.
  • Knowledge of payroll processes and Australian compliance requirements, including Superannuation, PAYG, and Payroll Tax obligations.
  • Experience with contract administration, service-based invoicing, and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational and time management skills, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to work independently while managing competing priorities.
