Electrical Estimator – Simpro Specialist

Overview:

Join a growing Australian electrical contracting business as an Electrical Estimator/Tendering Specialist. This role is ideal for an experienced estimator who has strong hands-on experience using Simpro and can confidently prepare electrical tenders with minimal system training.

The successful candidate will work closely with the business owner to prepare accurate quotations, improve estimating workflows, and gradually build standardized estimating templates and pre-builds within Simpro. This is a collaborative role where you'll help shape the estimating process while supporting future business growth.

Schedule:

  • Mondays to Fridays, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (Australian Eastern Time), with a 1-hour unpaid break (40 hours per week)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate electrical tenders and quotations for commercial and residential projects.
  • Review project documentation, including plans, specifications, and scope of work.
  • Create and manage estimates using Simpro.
  • Build and continuously improve estimating templates, assemblies, and pre-builds within Simpro.
  • Collaborate with the business owner to standardize tender presentation and estimating processes.
  • Ensure estimates are complete, accurate, and submitted within required deadlines.
  • Maintain pricing databases and supplier information.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend improvements to estimating workflows.
  • Assist in developing efficient estimating procedures and documentation as the business grows.
  • Using drafting software to complete markups and assisting in AS build documentation handover

Required Skills & Experience:

Essential:

  • Minimum 1-2 years of hands-on Simpro experience (non-negotiable).
  • Previous experience in electrical estimating/tendering.
  • Strong understanding of electrical terminology, materials, and estimating practices.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and electrical plans.
  • Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with Australian electrical contractors.
  • Knowledge of Australian construction and electrical industry standards.
  • Drafting electrical plans; as-built documentation
  • Experience building estimating templates or pricing libraries.
  • Experience in improving estimating systems and workflows.

Software Requirements:

Mandatory

  • Simpro (extensive practical experience)

Preferred:

  • Microsoft Excel

  • AutoCAD/drafting
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Adobe PDF

Within the first few months, the successful candidate should be able to:

  • Independently prepare accurate electrical tenders using Simpro.
  • Reduce the owner’s time spent on estimating activities.
  • Assist in building standardized Simpro templates and pre-builds.
  • Assist in back-end project management, documentation collection and delivery
  • Help establish a scalable estimating process that supports future business growth.
