Bilingual Legal Billing & Collections Specialist

Overview:

Our client is a busy workers' compensation law firm in the United States with a growing offshore team. They handle depositions, translations, and various legal services for Spanish-speaking clients. The firm is expanding their remote operations team and currently employs four overseas staff members with plans to add more as the business continues to scale.

As a Bilingual Legal Billing & Collections Specialist you will own the collections process for a high-volume law firm, directly contacting insurance adjusters to follow up on outstanding invoices for depositions, translations, and legal services. This role requires persistence and organization as you track down hard-to-reach adjusters, follow up consistently, and ensure payments are collected. Over time, as you master the firm's case management software and catch up on the backlog, you will expand into invoicing, case status management, and potentially paralegal responsibilities if you demonstrate strong capability and initiative.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Pacific Time Zone

Responsibilities:

  • Call insurance adjusters to follow up on unpaid invoices and collect outstanding fees
  • Maintain organized tracking systems to ensure consistent follow-up on all collection tasks
  • Learn and navigate the firm's case management software to access client and billing information
  • Set up and process invoices for legal services rendered
  • Monitor case statuses for settled cases and ensure all required tasks are completed
  • Communicate assertively and professionally with insurance adjusters and defense attorneys
  • Document all collection attempts and payment commitments in the system
  • Escalate unresolved collection issues and provide regular progress updates

Requirements:

Must-Have:

  • Excellent English bilingual communication skills (English & Spanish) with confidence speaking to insurance professionals and attorneys
  • Proven ability to be assertive yet patient when dealing with difficult-to-reach contacts
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous follow-up abilities
  • Experience in collections, accounts receivable, or persistent outbound calling roles
  • Comfortable learning new case management software systems
  • Reliable internet connection and professional home office setup for full-time remote work

  • Previous experience in legal environments or law firm operations
  • Bonus if you have worked with case management or legal billing software
  • Experience in paralegal or case management roles
