Senior BIM Technician (Revit)

Job Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior BIM Technician to join a growing building services engineering team. This role is responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining high-quality BIM models and construction documentation across a diverse portfolio of commercial projects.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience modelling Mechanical, Hydraulic, and Electrical (MEP) building services using Autodesk Revit and is highly proficient in multidisciplinary coordination, clash detection, and collaborative BIM workflows. You will work closely with engineers and consultants to deliver accurate, coordinated models from design through construction.

Schedule

  • Flexible with reasonable crossover during client business hours, Queenstown, New Zealand  (20 work hours per week) 

    Note: Part-time with potential to scale to full-time as project pipeline grows. 

Responsibilities

BIM Modelling & Documentation

  • Develop, maintain, and coordinate Revit MEP models for Mechanical, Hydraulic, and Electrical building services.
  • Produce accurate construction documentation including plans, schedules, sections, elevations, and detailed drawings.
  • Model: Mechanical ductwork, Pipework, Hydraulic systems, Drainage systems, Plant rooms, Service risers, and Electrical services.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with project standards and engineering requirements.

BIM Coordination

  • Coordinate MEP models with architectural, structural, and consultant disciplines.
  • Perform clash detection and model coordination using Navisworks, Revizto, and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC/BIM 360).
  • Participate in BIM coordination meetings.
  • Track, manage, and resolve coordination issues using Revizto.
  • Ensure models remain coordinated throughout all project stages.

BIM Standards & Quality Assurance

  • Create and maintain Revit families, templates, and project standards.
  • Incorporate engineer mark-ups into coordinated BIM models.
  • Maintain BIM documentation in accordance with project BIM Execution Plans (BEPs).
  • Work within Common Data Environments (CDEs) and collaborative BIM workflows.
  • Deliver high-quality, coordinated documentation with exceptional attention to detail.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with remote engineering teams across multiple disciplines.
  • Communicate effectively with engineers and consultants throughout project delivery.
  • Manage workload independently while meeting project deadlines.

Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a BIM/Revit Technician specialising in Building Services.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering BIM documentation across a variety of commercial developments.
  • Proven experience working on projects such as multi-storey commercial buildings, hotels and hospitality developments, high-rise residential developments, mixed-use developments, healthcare facilities, education projects, industrial buildings, and public sector developments.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit MEP.
  • Strong experience with Navisworks, Revizto, and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC/BIM 360).
  • Strong understanding of Mechanical, Hydraulic, and Electrical building services, alongside multidisciplinary BIM coordination.
  • Experience working within BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), Common Data Environments (CDEs), and collaborative BIM workflows.
  • Ability to create and maintain Revit families, templates, and BIM standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience delivering Australian and/or New Zealand building services projects.
  • Experience coordinating BIM projects from concept design through construction.
  • Advanced knowledge of cloud-based BIM collaboration workflows.
  • Experience developing parametric Revit families and BIM standards.
