This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Construction Cost Estimator (Groundworks & Landscaping) to take ownership of the estimating function while working remotely with a collaborative and supportive leadership team. You'll play a critical role in securing new projects by producing accurate, commercially competitive tenders and helping improve estimating processes through modern technology and best practices.

Role Overview:

The Construction Cost Estimator (Groundworks & Landscaping) will be responsible for managing the end-to-end estimating process across construction, groundworks, civil engineering, and commercial landscaping projects. This includes interpreting drawings and specifications, preparing quantity take-offs, sourcing supplier and subcontractor pricing, producing competitive tender submissions, and pricing variations.

Initially, you will work closely with the Operations Director to learn internal pricing methodologies and commercial processes before transitioning into a highly autonomous role while maintaining regular collaboration on commercial strategy and project delivery.

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (UK Time), with a 1-hour unpaid break (40 hours per week)

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Prepare accurate quotations from construction drawings and specifications.
• Complete detailed quantity take-offs for construction and landscaping projects.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Produce accurate cost estimates and competitive tender submissions.
• Price contract variations, change orders, and additional works.
• Maintain and continuously improve estimating templates, pricing databases, and commercial documentation.
• Analyse project costs and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
• Liaise regularly with the Operations Director regarding pricing strategy and tender decisions.
• Utilise technology and AI tools where appropriate to improve estimating efficiency and consistency.
• Ensure all estimates are completed accurately and submitted within required deadlines.

KPI Expectations:

• Achieve greater than 95% estimating accuracy against awarded project costs.
• Submit 100% of tenders before client deadlines.
• Produce quotations within agreed turnaround times.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date estimating databases and pricing records.
• Continuously improve estimating efficiency while maintaining commercial accuracy.

What We’re Looking For:

• Minimum 3 years' experience estimating or quantity surveying UK construction projects.
• Strong understanding of UK construction methods, standards, and commercial practices.
• Experience within groundworks, minor civil engineering, landscape construction, and/or commercial landscape maintenance.
• Ability to accurately interpret UK construction drawings, specifications, and Bills of Quantities.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Proven ability to work independently while managing multiple tenders simultaneously.
• Exceptional attention to detail with strong commercial awareness.

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience using estimating software.
• Experience working with Bills of Quantities (BoQs).
• Experience leveraging AI tools to improve estimating workflows and productivity.
• Knowledge of commercial landscape maintenance pricing.
• Previous experience supporting construction tenders remotely.
