Job Description:

We are looking for a highly proficient AutoCAD Drafter to join a growing residential design-and-construct firm in Australia. You will be responsible for producing high-quality 2D construction documentation and maintaining rigorous drawing standards across multiple active projects.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who understands Australian building practices and can work independently to support a principal architect and builder. You will be a critical part of the team, ensuring architectural visions are translated into buildable, accurate technical drawings.

Client Overview:

An established Australian design-and-construct business focused on high-end residential architecture and building. The principal is an experienced architect and builder seeking to offload technical documentation work to scale operations.

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday, flexible schedule within the client’s business hours (Australian Eastern Time, 40 hours per week)

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Produce accurate and detailed 2D construction documentation for residential projects.
• Manage complex xref filing, layering, and CAD standards to ensure consistency.
• Translate architectural design intent into buildable technical drawings.
• Coordinate with the principal to ensure documentation reflects on-site construction needs.
• Maintain organized file management and drawing registers across all projects.
• Ensure all work aligns with Australian residential construction practices and building standards.
• Deliver construction-ready documentation that meets industry expectations.

Requirements:

• Must have previous experience as a Drafter working directly with Australian architects, builders, or clients.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (2D drafting, xrefs, and file structuring).
• Demonstrated knowledge of Australian residential construction techniques and standards.
• Strong understanding of Australian documentation conventions and market expectations.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work with minimal supervision.
• Strong English communication skills for effective remote collaboration.
• Bonus if you have 3D modelling and rendering skills.
