Construction Estimator / Quantity Surveyor (Plumbing)

Job Overview:

You will own the entire tender process from start to finish, taking the pressure off senior leadership so they can focus on business growth. You'll work with architectural plans, manage supplier communications through the internal team, complete detailed takeoffs, and assemble polished proposals that win contracts. This is a high-impact role where your accuracy and attention to detail directly influence project success and company revenue.

Schedule: Remote, Full Time | Monday to Friday, during Business New Zealand Hours (NZST).

Responsibilities:

  • Review architectural plans and specifications to understand project scope and requirements 
  • Raise RFIs (Requests for Information) and flag any unclear or missing information in the plans
  • Compile fixtures lists including front-of-wall items such as toilets, vanities, and basins based on plan notations
  • Complete takeoffs using pre-builds and create new pre-builds as needed for recurring project types
  • Assemble and submit tender documents as part of formal proposals
  • Coordinate with the office administrator who secures supplier pricing and manages vendor relationships
  • Maintain accuracy and consistency across all pricing and estimation documentation
  • Support multiple franchise groups within the network as workload scales 

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an estimator, quantity surveyor, or pricing specialist in the plumbing or construction industry
  • Strong ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering plans 
  • Experience completing detailed takeoffs and preparing tender submissions
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in pricing and documentation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working independently and managing your own workflow
  • Willingness to integrate into the company's management and takeoff software systems
  • Bonus: if you have experience with pre-build libraries or templated estimation processes
  • Bonus: It helps if you've worked in a franchise or multi-location business environment
  • Bonus: if you're familiar with New Zealand or similar plumbing standards and fixtures
