E-Commerce Web Developer

Overview
Our client is looking for a Web Developer / Designer to bring an innovative e-commerce platform for tech-integrated winter footwear to life. Working directly with a Canadian entrepreneur, you will transform a complete, pre-drafted blueprint—including layouts, copy, and sequences—into a responsive, high-converting storefront. This is a targeted 3-month project with foundational impact and potential for ongoing maintenance work.

Schedule
20 hours per week minimum (flexible scheduling; 3-month project) | Client Timezone: Mountain Time (Alberta, Canada)

Responsibilities

  • Build a fully functional e-commerce website based on detailed specifications and content provided by the client
  • Implement page layouts, navigation structure, and user experience flows exactly as outlined in the blueprint
  • Integrate text, images, and video content across all pages to match the client's vision
  • Configure e-commerce functionality including product pages, shopping cart, and checkout process
  • Ensure responsive design across all devices and screen sizes
  • Implement basic on-page SEO and performance optimization
  • Set up transactional email templates and sequences for post-purchase communication
  • Provide ongoing website maintenance, updates, and debugging after initial launch
  • Conduct testing to ensure all features function properly before launch
  • Deliver regular progress updates and status reports throughout the build process

Requirements Must-Have Requirements

  • Proven experience building e-commerce websites from scratch
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating web design and development work
  • Proficiency with GoDaddy or similar hosting and domain management platforms
  • Experience implementing detailed client specifications into functional websites
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication skills with regular reporting capabilities
  • Experience with responsive design and mobile optimization
  • Basic SEO knowledge and implementation skills

Nice-to-Have Requirements

  • Bonus if you have experience with app integration or mobile app connectivity
  • It helps if you're familiar with e-commerce platforms like Shopify or WooCommerce
  • Bonus if you have experience with transactional email setup and automation
  • It helps if you have worked with startup or launch projects before
