Reconciliation & Accounting

Remote | Full-Time | Australian Business Hours | Immediate Start

Schedule

Monday–Friday | 40 hours per week, Flexible within Australian business hours. Example: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM Manila Time

The Opportunity

Join a fast-growing, technology-driven Australian private lending business helping Australian SMEs access capital quickly and efficiently.

We are looking for a CPA-qualified Reconciliations Accountant with strong reconciliation and accounting experience, ideally gained within lending, financial services, private credit, fintech or a similar transaction-driven environment.

This is a role for someone who is highly analytical, commercially aware and exceptionally detail-oriented. You will take ownership of the accuracy and integrity of financial data across loan disbursements, repayments, collections, bank transactions and third-party platforms.

You will also have the opportunity to contribute to process improvement and automation as the business continues to scale.

If you enjoy investigating discrepancies, working with large datasets and ensuring that financial information is accurate across multiple systems, this is an opportunity to take your accounting expertise into a high-growth financial services environment.

The Role

As the Reconciliations Accountant, you will play a critical role in maintaining the accuracy of the company's financial and lending data.

You will reconcile transactions across multiple systems, investigate variances, support collections and ensure that financial records remain complete, accurate and properly allocated.

The role combines accounting, reconciliation, financial analysis and data integrity, making it particularly well suited to someone who enjoys more than purely transactional accounting.

Reconciliation & Accounting — 60%

  • Perform daily reconciliations of loan disbursements and repayments against bank statements and internal ledgers.
  • Reconcile income and expense data between internal systems and third-party platforms such as Orgmeter or similar.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies across transactions, balances, payment allocations and financial records.
  • Review loan amortisation schedules and identify inconsistencies where applicable.
  • Trace variances back to their source and ensure appropriate corrections are made.
  • Prepare daily and weekly reconciliation reports for management.
  • Monitor outstanding variances and follow issues through to resolution.
  • Identify recurring reconciliation issues and potential process improvements.

Collections & Financial Operations — 20%

  • Monitor overdue accounts and reconcile collections against outstanding balances.
  • Ensure payments are correctly allocated between principal and interest.
  • Work with Client Success and operational teams to resolve payment discrepancies.
  • Flag accounts requiring escalation based on reconciliation findings.
  • Support the accuracy and integrity of financial information across the lending portfolio.

Data Integrity & Process Improvement — 20%

  • Analyse and reconcile large datasets, including 10,000+ row datasets, using Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Use Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, IF statements, data validation and other advanced spreadsheet functions.
  • Maintain accurate financial and customer information across HubSpot CRM and internal systems.
  • Cross-reference data between multiple platforms and identify inconsistencies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and automate reconciliation workflows.
  • Work with tools such as Zapier, Make or basic scripts where appropriate.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a strong accountant and reconciliations specialist who is comfortable working with detailed financial information and investigating discrepancies.

Essential

  • CPA qualification — required
  • Strong accounting and reconciliation experience.
  • Experience working with high-volume transactions and/or large financial datasets.
  • Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and financial accuracy.
  • Ability to investigate discrepancies and identify their underlying cause.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Industry Experience

Experience in lending, financial services, private credit, fintech, banking or a similar environment is highly desirable.

Candidates without direct lending experience may also be considered where they demonstrate strong reconciliation and accounting capability in a complex, transaction-heavy or financially regulated environment.

A solid understanding of loan repayments, amortisation, arrears, collections and principal/interest allocation will be highly advantageous.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Orgmeter or similar lending/data aggregation platforms
  • Familiarity with ActiveCampaign
  • Experience with HubSpot CRM
  • Experience with Zapier, Make or basic scripting
  • Previous Australian accounting or financial-services experience
  • Experience in lending, private credit or fintech

Who Will Thrive in This Role?

You are someone who doesn't simply accept that the numbers don't reconcile—you want to understand why.

You enjoy working through detailed financial information, comparing data across systems and identifying discrepancies that others may overlook.

You are:

  • Highly analytical and naturally curious
  • Extremely detail-oriented
  • Confident working with large datasets
  • Comfortable investigating financial discrepancies
  • Organised and methodical
  • Able to work independently without constant supervision
  • Interested in technology and process improvement
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment

Most importantly, you take ownership of financial accuracy and understand the importance of getting the details right.

Why Join?

This is an opportunity to move beyond traditional accounting and become part of a growing Australian financial services business.

You will gain exposure to:

  • Private lending and credit operations
  • Loan and repayment reconciliations
  • Collections and portfolio data
  • High-volume financial transactions
  • Multiple financial and CRM platforms
  • Process improvement and automation
  • A rapidly scaling, technology-driven business

You will have genuine ownership of an important financial function and the opportunity to contribute to how that function evolves as the company grows.

Independent Contractor Benefits

  • 100% remote — work from home
  • Work with a fast-growing Australian financial services business
  • Immediate start
  • Technology-driven working environment
  • Opportunity to develop expertise across lending, fintech and financial operations
  • Health insurance coverage for eligible locations

Ready to Take the Next Step?

If you're a CPA-qualified accountant with strong reconciliation and accounting experience and you're looking for an opportunity to apply those skills within a growing financial services business, we'd like to hear from you.

Experience in lending or financial services is highly desirable, but we are also interested in strong accounting professionals from closely related, transaction-heavy environments.
