Australian Tax Accountant (MYOB AE/AO)

Our client is seeking an Australian Tax Accountant to manage essential accounting workflows, with a preference for candidates experienced in MYOB AE or MYOB AO practice management systems. This role offers genuine responsibility handling work for diverse client industries, where your thoroughness and accuracy will be recognized directly by firm leadership. CPA certification (or equivalent) is required, while prior exposure to Australian accounting firms and experience working flexibly across time zones are major bonuses.

Client Overview:

Our client is an established Australian accounting firm with 35 years of experience serving a diverse client base. They pride themselves on delivering high-quality work and maintaining strong client relationships, with a team culture that values dedication and accuracy. The firm has successfully integrated remote team members and is expanding their offshore operations to handle growing workflow demands.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM AEST, with 1 hour unpaid break (40 work hours per week) (Flexible hours acceptable, must accommodate Australian business overlap during tax season)

Responsibilities:

  • Complete tax returns and accounting work for Australian clients following firm standards and Australian tax regulations
  • Prepare financial statements and supporting documentation for review by senior accountants
  • Handle tax preparation work including data entry, calculations, and compliance checks
  • Manage your workload to meet firm productivity expectations while maintaining quality standards
  • Work within MYOB AE or MYOB AO practice management systems for client work and documentation
  • Communicate proactively with Australian team members about progress, questions, or issues requiring guidance
  • Time all client communications appropriately to align with Australian business hours
  • Follow established security protocols for cloud-based systems and client data access
  • Adapt to increased workload during peak tax season while maintaining quality and accuracy

Requirements:

  • CPA certification or equivalent qualified accountant credentials
  • Previous experience working for an Australian accounting firm with exposure to Australian tax and compliance work
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality work that requires minimal corrections or revisions
  • Solid understanding of Australian taxation including BAS and superannuation requirements
  • Proven ability to work independently while maintaining regular communication with remote supervisors
  • Strong work ethic with ability to handle high workload volumes during busy periods
  • Reliable internet connection and suitable home office setup for remote work

Qualifications:
