Senior Accountant (QuickBooks Online)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Client Accountant with strong, hands-on expertise in QuickBooks Online (QBO) to support a growing accounting practice serving multiple U.S.-based clients.

The ideal candidate combines solid accounting fundamentals with the ability to navigate QuickBooks Online independently, manage day-to-day accounting activities, prepare accurate financial reports, and complete reconciliations efficiently. This role requires someone who can take ownership of assigned work, maintain high standards of accuracy, and communicate proactively with the internal team.

An active, verifiable QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification is required. Candidates must also demonstrate practical proficiency through a hands-on assessment. Certification and years of experience alone will not be sufficient.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting activities for a portfolio of U.S.-based clients using QuickBooks Online.
  • Navigate QBO independently to access, review, and generate financial reports.
  • Perform bank, credit card, and other account reconciliations accurately and efficiently.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including reviewing outstanding bills and invoices.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Review transactions, identify discrepancies, and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and other accounting reports.
  • Maintain organized documentation and ensure accounting records are complete and up to date.
  • Apply appropriate accounting practices to clients in different industries, including real estate and construction, as applicable.
  • Use QBO classes and other relevant features to support reporting and tracking requirements.
  • Communicate progress, questions, and potential issues promptly with the internal team.
  • Manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Active and verifiable QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification.
  • At least 5 years of relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably supporting U.S.-based businesses.
  • Strong, practical experience using QuickBooks Online, including reporting, reconciliations, accounts payable, and month-end close.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in QBO without extensive guidance.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and time management.
  • Excellent written communication skills and the ability to provide timely updates.
  • Ability to manage multiple client accounts and competing deadlines.
  • Availability for substantial overlap with U.S. Central Time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting real estate clients, including property-related expenses and Schedule E preparation.
  • Familiarity with construction accounting, job costing, and class-based tracking in QuickBooks Online.
  • Experience working in a small or growing accounting firm with a high volume of client work.
  • Recent or current experience in a similar accounting role.
  • Client-facing experience and confidence communicating directly with U.S.-based clients.

Client-facing responsibilities are preferred but not mandatory. The priority is strong technical accounting execution and reliable communication with the internal team.

What Success Looks Like

  • Independently navigates QuickBooks Online and completes assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Produces accurate and timely reconciliations and financial reports.
  • Demonstrates strong accounting judgment and attention to detail.
  • Communicates proactively and reliably with the internal team.
  • Manages a portfolio of client accounts while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
  • Adapts to changing priorities in a growing, fast-paced accounting environment.

Schedule

The schedule is flexible, provided the candidate maintains substantial overlap with U.S. Central Time. A schedule of approximately 6:00 AM–3:00 PM Central Time is acceptable.
