Managing Partner & CFO
Lead an Accounting Firm + Serve as CFO for a Private Equity Platform
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM | Lone Tree, Colorado (MT) | 1-hour unpaid break | 40 hours/week
We are seeking an exceptional Managing Partner & CFO to take a senior leadership position within a growing accounting firm and its affiliated private equity platform.
This is not a traditional CFO position—and it is not simply an accounting management role.
The Managing Partner mandate is the primary focus, with responsibility for leading the accounting practice, developing the team, setting standards, strengthening client delivery, and building a scalable operating model. Alongside this, you will serve as CFO for the private equity platform, providing financial leadership across portfolio companies and supporting acquisitions, reporting, controls, and capital allocation.
You will work directly with the Founder, a CPA and attorney, acting as a trusted senior partner in shaping the firm's next stage of growth.
This is an opportunity for a proven accounting leader who is ready to move beyond managing the numbers and take genuine ownership of people, clients, operations, technology, quality, and financial strategy.
The Opportunity
As Managing Partner, you will have significant influence over how the accounting firm operates and grows.
You will lead the accounting team, oversee the quality and timeliness of client deliverables, establish scalable processes, develop people, and work closely with the Founder on strategy, pricing, service offerings, capacity, and growth.
As CFO, you will bring that same financial leadership to the private equity platform—overseeing consolidated reporting, financial controls, portfolio performance, liquidity, acquisitions, and capital allocation.
The ideal candidate is therefore both technically excellent and commercially minded: someone who can review a balance sheet in the morning, coach a senior accountant, solve a client issue, improve an operational workflow, and then advise ownership on financial performance and an acquisition.
What You'll Own
Managing Partner — Accounting Firm
- Lead, mentor, recruit, and develop accountants, bookkeepers, and senior reviewers.
- Own the quality, accuracy, and timely delivery of bookkeeping, month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, payroll, and tax-support services.
- Manage client close calendars, workload allocation, team capacity, deadlines, and priorities.
- Serve as a senior point of contact for clients, clearly communicating financial results and resolving complex accounting issues.
- Review and sign off on financial statements and critical client deliverables.
- Establish and continuously improve SOPs, checklists, review workflows, and quality-control standards.
- Identify recurring accounting and operational issues and implement sustainable solutions.
- Partner with the Founder on business strategy, pricing, service offerings, client onboarding, capacity planning, and growth.
- Monitor utilization, turnaround times, client profitability, realization, and overall service performance.
- Own the accounting technology environment, including Kick, QuickBooks Online, and AI tools such as Claude.
- Help build an increasingly automated, technology-enabled, and AI-forward accounting operation.
CFO — Private Equity Platform
- Provide senior financial guidance to ownership and leadership across the portfolio.
- Evaluate portfolio-company financial performance and support capital allocation decisions.
- Oversee financial close, multi-entity consolidation, and US GAAP reporting.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual, and board-level financial reporting.
- Support acquisitions through financial due diligence, quality-of-earnings analysis, and post-acquisition integration.
- Monitor cash flow, liquidity, working capital, and debt covenants across portfolio companies.
- Identify financial risks and opportunities and translate financial data into actionable business insight.
Controls, Tax & Compliance
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and segregation-of-duties frameworks.
- Oversee federal, state, and local tax compliance in partnership with external tax advisors.
- Coordinate with auditors, tax professionals, and regulatory stakeholders.
- Oversee cash management, wire approvals, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes.
- Ensure accounting practices consistently meet applicable US GAAP and internal standards.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a seasoned accounting leader, not simply someone with a strong accounting background.
You should bring:
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
- 5+ years leading accounting teams
- Experience in public accounting, outsourced accounting, client-service accounting, or a similar environment
- Active CPA credential — required
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, multi-entity accounting, US tax compliance, and internal controls
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple client engagements while maintaining exceptional quality standards
- Experience building SOPs, review processes, controls, and scalable accounting operations
- Strong command of cloud accounting platforms such as QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or Kick
- Excellent client-facing and executive communication skills
- Strong organizational and project-management capability
- Exceptional professional-level English
- Genuine alignment with the firm's stated Christian values
Your Technology & AI Mindset Matters
This firm is actively building an AI-forward accounting practice.
We are looking for a leader who is curious about how technology can fundamentally improve accounting operations—not someone who simply uses accounting software as it has always been used.
Experience with Claude or other AI tools for accounting, reporting, reconciliations, categorization, research, documentation, or workflow automation is highly valued.
You may also have an opportunity to help establish best practices, train the accounting team, and identify new ways AI can improve both client service and internal efficiency.
Experience with Kick is a strong advantage.
Additional Experience That Will Stand Out
- Building or scaling an outsourced accounting or fractional CFO practice
- Private equity, family office, or portfolio-company experience
- M&A financial due diligence
- Quality-of-earnings analysis
- Post-acquisition integration
- Multi-entity or multi-currency accounting
- Experience supporting high-growth businesses
- Building technology-enabled accounting operations
- Training teams on AI and automation
Why This Role?
This is an opportunity to step into a role with real ownership and influence.
You will not be joining simply to maintain an established accounting function. You'll have the opportunity to shape how the firm operates, develop the team, improve the client experience, introduce better technology and AI-enabled workflows, and work directly with ownership on growth and strategy.
At the same time, the CFO component gives you exposure beyond the accounting practice—working across a private equity environment where your expertise will influence portfolio performance, acquisitions, capital allocation, reporting, and financial strategy.
For the right person, this is a role where accounting leadership, operational leadership, client leadership, and CFO-level strategy come together.
Independent Contractor Benefits
- Permanent work-from-home opportunity
- Immediate hiring
- Health insurance coverage for eligible locations
- Senior-level exposure and direct collaboration with ownership
- Opportunity to help build and scale an AI-forward accounting operation
