Job Overview

You will own the drafting process for custom architectural metal features from concept to fabrication-ready drawings. You'll work directly with the business owner to transform creative visions into detailed technical drawings for one-off pieces that push the boundaries of custom metalwork.

Client Overview

Our client is a growing Australian architectural metalwork company specializing in custom fabrication. They design and fabricate one-off architectural features including structural steel, custom fireplaces, unique fences, and bespoke gates.

Schedule

Flexible with partial overlap during Australian Eastern Standard Time business hours (40 hours per week)

Responsibilities

• Create detailed architectural drawings for custom metal features including fireplaces, gates, fences, and structural steel elements
• Produce fabrication-ready technical drawings for one-off custom pieces with precise specifications
• Work on diverse projects with no repetitive designs, requiring adaptability and creative problem-solving
• Collaborate with the business owner to interpret design concepts and translate them into buildable plans
• Manage multiple concurrent projects and prioritize drafting work based on fabrication timelines
• Ensure all drawings meet structural and fabrication requirements for custom metalwork
• Maintain communication through email and scheduled overlap hours to ensure project alignment
• Revise and refine drawings based on fabrication feedback and client requirements

Requirements

• Proven experience as an architectural draftsperson
• Demonstrated ability to draft custom metal features, architectural metalwork, or similar one-off fabrication projects
• Strong technical drawing skills for structural steel and architectural elements
• Portfolio demonstrating custom or architectural drafting work

Qualifications

• Experience specifically with fireplaces, gates, fences, or custom architectural features is a plus
• Familiarity with fabrication processes and ability to design with manufacturability in mind
• Experience working with Australian building codes or standards is a bonus
