Job Overview

Our client is seeking a sharp, detail-oriented Commercial Construction Estimator (Bluebeam & BuildSoft) to take end-to-end ownership of the commercial landscaping estimating process. Working directly alongside the business owner and Australian supplier network, you will perform quantity takeoffs from architectural plans, obtain live material pricing, and construct accurate, high-margin project bids.

This position offers high operational autonomy, directly shaping the firm's commercial bidding infrastructure as they scale their project portfolio.

Client Overview

Our client is an established and rapidly expanding landscaping company based in Melbourne, Australia. Specializing in high-value commercial landscaping initiatives, they are scaling their commercial estimating division to support ambitious growth targets across Victoria. To drive pipeline throughput, they are adding a dedicated remote Estimator to manage cost estimations, supplier relations, and project takeoffs.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, Business hours, Melbourne, 20 hours per week

Responsibilities

• Takeoffs & Cost Estimation:
  • Perform detailed digital quantity takeoffs and plan markups from civil, architectural, and landscape drawings.
  • Prepare comprehensive cost estimates and bills of quantities (BOQ) for commercial landscaping bids.
  • Build, refine, and maintain standardized estimating templates for recurring project classifications.
  • Review project scopes, specifications, and client requirements to ensure complete coverage in bid submissions.
  • Support the seamless transition of awarded estimates over to project delivery and operations teams.
• Supplier Coordination & Price Procurement:
  • Contact Australian suppliers and sub-contractors directly to source material costs, equipment rates, and lead times.
  • Lock in current market pricing to guarantee estimate accuracy and protect project margins.
  • Maintain organized digital archives of completed takeoffs, supplier quotes, historical rate databases, and client submittals.

Requirements

• Estimating Track Record: Proven experience as a construction or landscaping Estimator, with demonstrated ability to deliver precise digital takeoffs and cost models.
• Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience using Bluebeam for plan markups and BuildSoft (or comparable estimation software) for building detailed estimates.
• Supplier Communication: Excellent spoken and written English skills for negotiating and coordinating directly with Australian material suppliers.
• Australian Market Knowledge (Required): Experience with Australian commercial landscaping practices, supplier networks, and regional pricing structures is required.
