Job Overview
Our client is seeking a Data Quality & Calibration Lead to direct their data calibration function and ensure the accuracy, reliability, and continuous improvement of calibration datasets. In this role, you will combine technical calibration expertise with team leadership, overseeing the processes, protocols, and automation used to transform raw sensor and operational data into accurate, usable datasets for clients and internal teams. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, you will serve as the primary subject matter expert across calibration methodologies, pipeline optimization, and data quality frameworks.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM [Timezone], with 1 hour unpaid break (40 work hours per week
Note: This role may require occasional flexibility in working hours to support clients and internal teams across different time zones.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership, Development & Training: Lead, mentor, and guide the calibration team; define team structure, roles, and capability requirements; manage performance cycles, goal setting, and development planning; design targeted training on calibration tools and procedures; act as the escalation point for complex technical or operational issues.
- Data Calibration & Validation: Lead dataset calibration processes to transform raw data into usable formats; establish calibration standards, validation controls, and quality assurance processes; collaborate with data engineers and scientists to validate calibration models; review and approve complex calibration decisions and data quality escalations.
- Calibration Automation & Pipeline Optimization: Design and implement automated calibration workflows to improve efficiency when handling large datasets; develop and maintain an automation roadmap; continuously optimize pipelines to support evolving data requirements and enhance accuracy.
- Monitoring, Troubleshooting & Issue Management: Monitor real-time data streams to identify and address anomalies; lead investigations into calibration issues with IT, engineering, and analytics teams to determine root causes; maintain issue logs to track recurring patterns and implement preventative controls.
- Quality Control, Metrics & Documentation: Establish calibration quality frameworks, performance metrics, and governance processes; generate regular reports on data quality, error rates, throughput, and turnaround times; maintain comprehensive documentation of calibration procedures and ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
- Stakeholder Management & Project Delivery: Manage calibration workstreams, project scoping, and delivery timelines; act as the primary point of contact for calibration matters across operations, engineering, product, and client services; translate complex technical constraints into clear recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
- General Operational Support: Maintain high service standards to ensure client satisfaction, adhere to company operational procedures, foster cross-departmental collaboration, and execute ad hoc duties as directed by leadership.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in data science, engineering, statistics, business analytics, or a related discipline.
- Proven relevant experience in data calibration, data quality, analytics engineering, or a related field, operating at a senior or leadership level.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing technical teams, managing performance, and uplifting capability.
- Strong technical capability in SQL, data validation methodologies, and large-scale operational datasets.
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing automated data workflows, pipelines, and process improvements that enhance accuracy and scalability.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or similar analytics and reporting tools.
- Demonstrated ability to establish KPIs, quality controls, and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
- Strong project management, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.
