Outbound Sales Development Representative – School Outreach

Job Overview:

Are you a tech-savvy sales pro who knows how to navigate school decision-makers and turn cold outreach into booked meetings?

As an Outbound Sales Development Representative, you will serve as the voice of an innovative immersive theatre program, actively testing and building an early-stage outreach engine from the ground up. We are seeking a proactive communicator with the stamina for high-volume cold calling, the agility to refine scripts and messaging on the fly, and the technical comfort to master non-traditional CRM tools. While you will not be closing final sales, your primary mission is to build rapport, qualify prospects, and drive pipeline growth. Experience in education sales, performing arts, or speaking directly with school principals will give you a major head start in this high-impact role!

Client Overview:

An immersive entertainment company bringing live theatrical productions into schools across the United States. They specialize in educational theatre and rely on authentic, relationship-driven outreach to partner with school decision-makers.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM Eastern Time (20 work hours per week)

Responsibilities:

  • High-Volume Outreach & Execution: Execute a high volume of outbound calls to schools following direct-mail postcard campaigns and targeted prospect lists.
  • Messaging & Script Iteration: Actively refine, test, and improve call scripts and messaging based on live prospect responses to find the highest-converting pitch.
  • Document Iteration Attempts: Meticulously track and document what messaging hooks, value props, and call scripts work vs. what fails to accelerate the learning curve.
  • Tech-Savvy Lead Management: Work efficiently within non-traditional CRM systems and lightweight tools to manage lead lists, log call outcomes, and maintain pipeline health.
  • Lead Qualification & Account Intelligence: Identify key decision-makers (principals, activity directors, school staff) and gather verified contact details (names, titles, direct emails).
  • Drive Primary Metrics: Set up and book initial meetings for the closing team, focusing directly on driving booked meetings that turn into qualified opportunities.
  • Account Hygiene & Safety Filtering: Assess lead quality, update records in real time, and flag/blacklist schools that are not a fit or raise safety concerns.

Requirements:

  • Agile & Early-Stage Mindset: Proven track record of succeeding in startup/early setup environments where processes, scripts, and playbooks are actively being built.
  • Tech Savviness & Non-Traditional CRM Experience: Comfortable learning, adapting to, and navigating non-traditional CRM systems, software, and databases without needing complex standard enterprise setups.
  • Outbound Calling & High-Volume Experience: Comfort and stamina for making a high volume of daily outbound calls without losing energy or rapport.
  • Script Refinement & Problem Solving: Ability to evaluate real-time feedback, adapt messaging on the fly, and propose improvements to scripts rather than sticking rigidly to a template.
  • Warm, Personable Phone Demeanor: Exceptional active listening skills with the ability to connect authentically with educators and administrators.
  • Data-Driven & Organized: High level of discipline in documenting detailed call outcomes, objection types, and prospect responses.
  • Self-Directed: High initiative—you do not wait for instructions; you identify roadblocks in the script/messaging and help solve them to reach target metrics faster.
  • Bonus Points: Background in performing arts, education sales, or prior experience navigating school front offices and speaking with principals.

Independent Contractor Perks:

  • Permanent work from home
  • Immediate hiring
