The business is currently expanding and requires professional bookkeeping support to establish proper financial systems and maintain ongoing compliance with Australian taxation requirements. JOB OVERVIEW This is a part-time bookkeeping role focused initially on reconciling historical accounts and establishing proper chart of accounts for a food manufacturing business. The position requires immediate attention to backlogged bookkeeping work, including bank reconciliations and GST-compliant account setup. Once historical work is completed, the role will transition to ongoing weekly bookkeeping support with potential expansion into payroll services. RESPONSIBILITIES Reconcile historical bank accounts and bring bookkeeping records up to current standards Set up and properly structure chart of accounts for cost of goods sold, ensuring correct GST treatment for fresh food items versus processed items Perform ongoing bank reconciliations using automated feeds and AI tools within Xero Process and categorize transactions to ensure compliance with Australian taxation requirements Potentially manage payroll processing as the business expands MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENTS Minimum 2-5 years of bookkeeping experience Demonstrated expertise in Australian taxation and GST compliance requirements Advanced proficiency in Xero accounting software NICE-TO-HAVE REQUIREMENTS Experience working with food manufacturing or retail businesses Familiarity with QuickBooks in addition to Xero
